Trans Joy

Lines Outside The Box

Thursday 6th May marked our very first live event here at Unboxd. What a fantastic evening it was, or afternoon, for our friends who attended from the US.

I offered to help out in the session, mainly so I could attend and join in the fun. I’ve never attended an arts workshop or anything like this myself, so I was quite curious, and a bit nervous for what it would be like. I don’t consider myself particularly creative, and I can’t remember the last time I tried to draw anything prior to this event.

So what happened?

The Power of Creativity

The workshop began with an introduction from Octavian, so we knew what to expect during the session. It was clear from the start we had a lovely bunch of people in the workshop, and it quickly felt like I was amongst friends. Some enjoyed chatting, whilst others preferred the text chat.

I had no idea how stressed I was until the stress started melting away. I was blown away by the fact that this space was giving me real time-out, enabling me to unwind. The power of creativity.

I was definitely the least arty in the workshop and there were some fantastic artists there too but, despite my lack of creative skills and the fact I was surrounded by talented people I felt totally at ease. Everyone was really supportive and encouraging, there was a great mix of people and it felt like a safe space to just “give it a go”. There was no judgment or comparison, people were very kind, it was just a fun and relaxing place to be with a lot of laughter.

If you feel you’ve missed out, the good news is there are more workshops still to come. Follow the links below to find out more and join us on the next one - Crossing The Binary: Colouring Outside The Box.

Why don’t you treat yourself to a relaxing two hours in a trans friendly safe space?

As always with all our events, we don’t want cost to be a barrier to anyone. We have a number of concessionary tickets for those on a limited budget and a few complimentary tickets for those who would like to come and cannot afford to pay. For complimentary tickets please email info@unboxdiversity.com.

We hope to see you there!
